Details:
Outdoor enthusiasts of all ages interested in learning the basics of shotguns and shotgun shooting are encouraged to attend a free class provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Instructors will cover topics including the parts of a shotgun and their functions, proper firearm handling, shotgun ammunition, and proper shotgun shooting technique. This class will cover the basics of shooting shotguns safely and effectively on the clay target range. Participants will have the opportunity to shoot a variety of different shotgun types during the class. All equipment will be provided, including shotguns, ammunition, and targets. Participants are asked to only bring outside equipment with instructor approval. The class is free, but we do ask that participants 18 and older to purchase a Shooting Range Permit to support our state ranges and have access to the Delaware Shooting Range for the class. Ohio Division of Wildlife Range permits can be found on our website oh-web.s3licensing.com/Home/Info or on the HuntFish OH app. They can also be purchased at any retailer of hunting and fishing licenses. We are always happy to help and can aid your purchase of a permit at the range on the day of the class if need be. A day permit is $5.00, or a year permit is $24.00. Attendees should meet at the Delaware Shooting Range and Education Center at 1110 SR 229, Ashley, OH 43003. There will be both an indoor class period and an outdoor shooting portion of the course depending on the weather. Please dress accordingly. Register online at the link above. Please contact Billy Finissi with any questions or concerns at William.Finissi@dnr.ohio.gov or (740) 221-8424.
