The Armstrong Air & Space Museum will be hosting Vickie Kloeris to discuss NASA Nutrition. Vickies Bio:Vickie L. Kloeris recently retired from NASA where she worked in space food systems for 34 years. For 29 of those years, she served as the NASA manager of rst the Shuttle and then the International Space Station food systems. She has authored and co-authored numerous publications and has received several awards including NASAs highest employee award, the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, in 2019. During her career, she was twice awarded the NASA Exceptional Service Medal and received the Johnson Space Center Directors Commendation Award. In 2017, she was given an Outstanding Alumni Award by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at her alma mater, Texas A&M University. Vickie has been a member of the International Food Technologists (IFT) , a professional organization for food scientists, since 1978 and has received their designation of Certified Food Scientist. She has served in multiple IFT roles over the years, most recently serving on the Board of Directors from Sept 2017- Aug 2020. In March 2020, she was elected to the position of President Elect. She rst served a year as President Elect, then a year as President in 2022 and a year as Immediate Past President of IFT. Vickie earned a B. S. in Microbiology and a M. S. in Food Science and Technology from Texas A&M University. She lives in Pearland, Texas just outside Houston with her husband, Steve and their lab, Emma Presentation in the STEM Inspiration Center will begin at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM.
