The Colonel David Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is hosting a Genealogy Speaker Series at the Lewes Public Library to commemorate America's upcoming 250th anniversary. Scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the second program will feature Joe Sullivan from the Delaware Public Archives, who will provide insights on lesser-known resources for genealogical research, such as supply tax records, oaths of allegiance, and pay schedules that highlight the contributions of women and African or Native Americans during the Revolutionary War.
In support of its anniversary initiatives, the chapter has also secured a Library Edition license for Ancestry.com, available for free to the public at the Lewes Library. After the presentation, genealogists from the DAR chapter will assist attendees in utilizing this resource to explore their family histories. Chapter Regent Beth Bowersock emphasizes the importance of this anniversary not only for celebrating America's founding but also for recognizing and reflecting on the diverse stories that shaped the nation. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register by emailing Mary Alice Kelly at makelly.dar@gmail.com by September 27.
