6:00 PM 8:00 PM join in to celebrate the Emancipation Proclamation issues by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, that declared the freedom of enslaved people in the Confederate States during the American Civil War. The Proclamation stated that all enslaved people in states that were rebelling against the United States were free and that the governments would recognize and protect their freedom.
