Our members are invited to join us for the opening of the “Sheldon Statewide: Nebraska’s Legacy” Art exhibit. Enjoy a glass of wine and light hors d’oeuvres while you preview the 2025 show. Not a member? Stop by before November 3 and sign up! Representing more than a century of artistic creativity at the University of Nebraska, the exhibition “Nebraska’s Legacy” features artworks by former and current professors. Composed of paintings, sculptures, prints, and photographs, the exhibition gives insight to the evolution of the work of these professors and the influence living in Nebraska had on them. “Nebraska’s Legacy” features artwork by early University of Nebraska professors including Cora Parker and Dwight Kirch as well as current faculty members, Francisco Souto, Aaron Holz, and Dana Fritz. This exhibition is part of Sheldon Statewide; an annual program started in 1987 with the purpose of sharing the collection of the Sheldon Museum of Art with the people of Nebraska. During the 2025-2026 school year, “Sheldon Statewide: Nebraska’s Legacy” will visit eight venues and will be seen by thousands of people. The communities hosting this exhibition are Chadron, North Platte, McCook, Grand Island, York, Beatrice, Fremont, and Falls City. We encourage you to take part in this community event.
