Scott Boilard presents his latest collection of works in PARAREALITY, on view at Hunchback Gallery June 6-28, 2025. The exhibit will feature more than 15 paintings, most of which are new and unseen. Through PARAREALITY, Boilard invites viewers to open their imaginations and explore the intersection of the physical and the imagined. Known for his blend of traditional rendering with modern color and composition, his work evokes emotion rather than relying on literal representation. Boilard has been influenced by both classic illustrators and abstract expressionists, and his art reflects his lifelong study of the natural world, filtered through a fantastical lens. Hunchback Gallery is on the 2nd floor of 75 Webster Street, Worcester, MA, accessible by stairs or freight elevator. Free parking is available in the lot across the street. About the artist:Born and based in Worcester, MA, Scott Boilard is a contemporary artist known for his distinctive style of figurative surrealism. He has been creating art for most of his life, drawing inspiration from fantasy and science fiction. He pursued formal study in illustration and fine arts at the Art Institute of Boston, where he was influenced by early 20th-century illustrators and mid-century abstract expressionists. Following years of freelance illustration, Boilards focus shifted to fine art, which gave him greater freedom and control over his work. Through traditional materials like oils and acrylics on wood and canvas, his initial sketches are done in graphite and ink. His work often features realistic figures and forms within fantastical, symbolic settings. Boilard considers painting a means of pure expression for concepts difficult to articulate with words. His art is deeply personal, often exploring themes of fear, self-doubt, paranoia, and the struggles of navigating existence.
