Details:
The Smart Cycling Course, offered for free with required pre-registration, is designed to enhance bicycling skills and safety on the road. Participants will first complete an online self-guided course available at learn.bikeleague.org/p/smartcycling, which is essential for obtaining certification. The course includes a detailed classroom session lasting between 90 minutes and two hours, followed by practical on-road and parking lot exercises focusing on vehicular cycling techniques. The course emphasizes crash prevention strategies and bike handling skills, with a maximum of six students per instructor for thorough guidance. An optional Smart Cycling Manual is available for reference during the course. For those seeking certification, a printed Certificate of Completion from the online course is mandatory on the day of the bike skills session. The next Smart Cycling Traffic Skills Course will take place on September 27, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Blount County Public Library, Maryville, TN. For more information and registration details, participants can contact instructor Donna Dixon at 865-803-4412 or via email at Donna@jeffrothcyclingfoundation.org.
