Monarch Festival set for Oct. 4 at Bemidji Veterans Home
Bemidji, MN—Join Birds, Bees, Butterflies – Bemidji in celebrating the 8th annual Monarch Butterfly Festival Saturday, October 4, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
This year’s event is being held at the Bemidji Veterans Home, located at 920 Anne Street NW in Bemidji. Come learn about the ‘Birds for Veterans’ project at the facility. Hear from Thomas Dirth how time spent in nature can benefit your health. Local butterfly enthusiast John Weber will share information and photos about butterfly populations in Beltrami, Cass, Clay, and Polk counties. Headwaters Art and Music will feature special nature-themed music. Learn about four things you can do to help pollinators in your yard from Ann Gorman. Finally, stay for the highlight of the event – a Children’s Butterfly Parade!
There also will be tours of the Veterans Home, which opened in 2024. Several local organizations will have tables with information to share. Children (and adults!) Children and adults can make butterfly wings onsite and join in the monarch parade. Come be a part of this annual celebration of the incredible 3,000 mile, fall migration journey made by Minnesota’s state butterfly!
Please note: Veterans Home Residents will be participating, do not attend if you are experiencing symptoms of any illness.
